STELCOR MICROPILES EXCEEDED THE REQUIRED CAPACITY AT ALMOST HALF THE DEPTH REQUIRED FOR AUGERCAST.

OVERVIEW:

The boardwalk and all of the facilities at Long Beach were washed away during Hurricane Sandy. The plans for rebuilding the boardwalk included restrooms, changing rooms, lifeguard stations, and concessions at seven locations along the boardwalk. Initially, there were 257 augercast piles specified for this project.

CHALLENGE:

The GC was facing time constraints and the top priority was to get the piles installed quickly and with minimal site mess.

SOLUTION:

Ideal presented STELCOR as a cost-effective alternate to augercast piles. The STELCOR piles exceeded the required capacity at depths ranging from 15′ to 20′. That is around half of the 30’ depth that was required for the augercast piles which were initially specified for the project. No modifications were made to the installer’s existing equipment, and by eliminating spoils, there was minimal site mess.
