Four of the finest IDEAL team members (all equally fine) will be at Superpile ’15 next week. We’re really happy to be presenting there. So happy, in fact, that we reserved not one, but two booths side by side. You can find us at booths 403 and 404.

SUPERPILE-2015

Not to brag or anything, but the STELCOR DDM pile drew a bit of a crowd at our last show. This time around, we wanted to be sure there was enough room for all STELCOR watchers to flail their limbs with animated amazement. Feel free to stop by and hang out in the grass with our people. They’ll be looking forward to meeting you.

Michael Perlow, Jr., P.E., Ideal Group; and Dimitrios Konstantakos, P.E., Deep Excavation LLC, will be hosting a technical session titled Settlement Based Design of Micropiles, ACIP, Drilled Displacement, STELCOR and Helical Piles from 10:45 AM-11:15 AM on Friday.

In the past, conventional design and load test evaluation methods for determining ultimate pile capacity have not considered pile settlements. The International Building Code (IBC-2009) requires that ultimate axial pile capacity be determined by a registered engineer with consideration given to total and differential settlement at design loads using an established pile acceptance method. A new settlement-based pile design methodology, which would meet IBC criteria for approval by code officials is presented. This methodology allows pile capacity to be determined from load test performance, considering short and long-term settlement requirements at design loads. The settlement-based design method is illustrated on a number of driven, drilled shaft, Micropile, ACIP, Drilled Displacement, STELCOR, and Helical Pile load tests.

So that’s what it’s all about – you don’t want to miss it. See you there!
